ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE

FEBRUARY 6, 2008

“Come, let us walk in the light of the Lord, that God may teach us God's ways
and that we may walk in God's paths.”   Isaiah 2:5,3c

Words of explanation:

Throughout this service we will use the Hymn “Lord, I want to be a Christian” found on page 402 of the United Methodist Hymnal.   The words are printed to the right, so use of hymnal is optional.

We encourage you, throughout the service, to search for ways that you might be deliberate in your spiritual life during this Lenten season.   Use the blank side of this bulletin to make note of commitments you are willing to make.

When the invitation is extended to begin a Lenten journey, so that Christ's spirit might prepare us to live more fully in God's will, please be in an attitude of prayer in your seats.

We will be offering the imposition of Ashes and oil.   If you wish to be anointed, come to the kneeling bench.   If you wish to kneel in prayer but not be anointed, simple shake your head as the pastor approaches.

Remain in prayer as long as you wish.   If you desire a pastor to pray with or for you, please come, wherever they are, let them know if you have a specific need you would like lifted up, and we will pray together.

As you feel ready, please leave the Sanctuary in silence, and begin your Lenten '08 Journey with Christ as your guide and Savior.
